This Privacy Policy explains how LearnSkill ("we", "our", "the app") — a free coding-learning app and website — collects, uses, and protects your information. By using LearnSkill, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is needed to run the learning experience:
Account information (optional): If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. You can use most of the app without signing in.
Learning data: Your progress — completed lessons, quiz results, daily-challenge scores, streaks, XP, levels, and badges.
AI interactions: When you use the AI tutor, quizzes, or challenge grading, the text you type (your questions and answers) is sent to our AI processing service to generate a response.
Device storage: Some progress is stored locally on your device so the app works offline.
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, microphone, or any sensitive personal data.
2. How We Use Your Information
To save and sync your learning progress across your devices.
To power features like the AI tutor, quizzes, daily challenges, and the leaderboard.
To personalize your experience (levels, streaks, badges).
To maintain, improve, and secure the service.
3. Public Leaderboard
If you sign in, your name, profile picture, and XP may appear on the public Top Learners leaderboard, visible to other users. If you do not want to appear on the leaderboard, please do not sign in, delete your account from the Profile tab, or contact us to remove your entry.
4. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to run the app. Your data may be processed by:
Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Hosting) — for sign-in and storing your progress and leaderboard entry. See Google's Privacy Policy.
AI provider (Groq) — the text you send to the AI tutor/challenges is processed to generate responses.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers and protected by database security rules that limit access to your own data. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
6. Children's Privacy
LearnSkill is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Rights & Choices
You can use the app as a guest without signing in.
You can sign out at any time from the app.
You can request access to, or deletion of, your account and associated data by emailing us.
How to delete your account and data
In the app: open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account & data. This permanently deletes your LearnSkill account, your synced progress, and your leaderboard entry straight away.
Without the app: email learnskill.dev@gmail.com from the Google account you signed in with, with the subject "Delete my LearnSkill account". We delete the account and all associated data within 30 days.
What is deleted: your name, email, profile picture, completed lessons, streaks, XP and leaderboard entry. We do not keep any of this data after deletion.
8. Advertising
LearnSkill currently does not show third-party ads. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated and any advertising partners disclosed.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
